Let me just come right out and say it: sunblock is expensive in Santorini! If you want to know how to find cheap sunblock, I wish you the best of luck. I tend to travel light but for any trip I’m planning to Santorini island, sunblock is at the very top of my packing list – and lots of it. If you have sensitive skin, light skin, or even if you are working on your tan during your visit, you will need sunblock of some kind…
Of course, you can find sunblock on virtually every corner at the little “Mini-Markets” scattered throughout Oia, Fira, Perissa, Perivolos, and wherever you might find yourself.
The more well-known brands (Johnson & Johnson, Nivea, Coppertone, etc) can go for 15 to 20 euros per bottle. No joke. And if you need a higher SPF of 25 to 50, you’re going to pay even more.
If you do find yourself forced to buy sunblock in Santorini, your best bet is a larger supermarket in the main town areas. You can find these large stores throughout the island. Ask the receptionist at your hotel or villa where to find the nearest location. Although not quite as expensive as the tourist shops, you should still expect to pay more than back home.
Do yourself a favor and purchase sunblock at home before you come to the Greek Islands. Avoid getting gouged by the tourist price-traps!
