Santorini Boat Rental

greek-islands-santorini-boat-rentalSantorini is a great place to rent a boat and enjoy spectacular views of the volcanic island.  Fortunately, the boat rental process is really as easy as simply walking to the beach and finding a stand or kiosk.  Whether you are in Perissa Beach, Kamari Beach, or any of the other hot spots around the island, you can find many of these boat rental locations sprinkled along the waterfront…

Most Santorini boat rental companies offer a standard selection of rental options – pedle boats (also known as “bicycle boats”), banana boats, jet skis, and much more.  Choosing the right sea vessel really depends on your budget, schedule, and group size.

Boat Rentals for Couples

For couples, I highly recommend pedal boat rental.  These bicycle boats allow you to casually pedal out into the Aegean Sea and enjoy a warm, sunny afternoon at a slow pace.  I would even suggest packing a light lunch and bringing a towel along.  Once you find a nice spot in the water away from the jet ski and motor boat traffic, you can rest on the water and have a quiet romantic time with your partner.  Plus, this option is by far the cheapest.  At prices ranging from 10 to 20 euros per hour, you can really enjoy your Santorini boat rental experience without feeling rushed.

Jet Ski Rentals

Jet ski rental is also a fun option, but you will find prices much higher.  Typically jet skis run from 20 to 40 euros per ten minutes.  If you really enjoy jet skis or maybe if you have never actually used a jet ski, this can be a fun option.  Racing along the water at rapid speeds is quite exhilarating!

Boat Rentals for Groups

Banana boats and other options are perfect for larger groups of 3 to 6 people.  This can be a fun way to spend the afternoon laughing and playing around with friends.

Santorini boat rental prices don’t vary too much, so don’t worry about finding the best deal on the island or the best place to rent a boat.  Rather, choose a location that suits your tastes and your schedule.  Then, simply choose a boat option that works best for you – whether alone or traveling with a group.  Hire your boat or jet ski and have a great time on your Santorini trip!

We are looking forward to renting a boat the first week in august this year.

    What would you have?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ramon!

That depends on where you’re headed. My favorite spot is on Perissa/Perivolos beach. You can rent paddle boats, jet skis, motor boats, and all sorts of great water toys. You’ll find the boat rental shop right on the beach across from the Atlantis hotel and just down the road from Smaragdi Hotel (my favorite!). Enjoy!

Do you know what is the price to rent a boat for two? Where are the secluded beach or place to visit with the boat? I am going with my girlfriend and would like to spend time snorkeling and perhaps having a picnic somewhere for just the two of us.

I suppose it depends on what you’re looking for exactly. If you want to rent a motor boat to travel around the island beach areas, that obviously will be more expensive. You could also just rent a paddle/pedal boat, venture out into the water, and enjoy a picnic while floating in the sea.

Still, I think your best option might be something totally different…. I would HIGHLY recommend going on a catamaran ride. Usually the price runs about $300 USD per person BUT there are only 10 people on the boat, you get a complete tour around the island (even near the volcano), AND there are several stops along the way for snorkeling, swimming, diving, and enjoying the “hot springs” area. Plus, they include you a massive lunch with great foods and free drinks throughout the ride.

The trip I would recommend is with “Santorini Sailing.” They are rated #1 on TripAdvisor’s “things to do in Santorini” and do a GREAT job!
